Even though I grew up going to church twice on Sunday and also on Wednesday nights, small groups and personal or group bible study was a concept I adopted more as an adult Christian. What a difference it makes as I try to take on the challenge of a daily walk with Christ. The fellowship, encouragement, challenge and knowledge that we share together as a group provides such a huge resource in my life that I wouldn't have without it.
Although our name "BAM" (Be-A-Man) is a little tongue-in-cheek as we kind of play off the first book we read together, I do have both the desire and feel the burden of being a "man" in my many roles in life, the man God wants me to be. Our group shares that desire and that burden and it's such a blessing to have Godly men in my life who will walk that road together. Ecclesiastes 4:12 says, "Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken." In the fight we're in to be the men God wants us to be, it is best to be in it together.
