FinDing Relief - Golden Meadow, LA - October 9th thru 10th

Disciples and Friends of FinD,

Hurricane Ida made land fall near Port Fourchon, LA on August 29, 2021.  Many people lost everything, are living in tents on their property, and are trying to put their lives back together.  As FinD has done in years past, we felt led by the Holy Spirit to connect with a smaller, outlier community that's getting less media attention and support.

What: After several recon trips, our team identified the little community of Golden Meadow, LA which is one of the hardest hit towns in that area. Here's a video link of the hurricane as it rolled through Golden Meadow (https://youtu.be/Lu9h3uNIMR0)Will you help us go serve some hot meals to these families??

Where: We will be meeting up at Our Lady of Prompt Succor, 723 N Bayou Drive, Golden Meadow, LA 70357.  Approximately 6 hours of drive time.  Volunteers should plan on a 6.5-7 hour commute with stops. Click the following link for a map: (https://goo.gl/maps/obeVjBGBkxhiroaXA).

When:  We have a small crew (looking for a few more volunteers) heading to Golden Meadow, LA the morning of Saturday, October 9, 2021.  The plan is to arrive mid-afternoon and begin preparations to serve dinner to the community that evening.  We will serve an estimated 1,000 to 1,200 people at dinner and then serve them again for breakfast/brunch after church services Sunday morning.  Our team will leave to head back to Houston around 1pm or 2pm, Sunday, October 10, 2021.

Meals:  We will be serving roughly 600 lbs of smoked brisket and sausage, along with optional hamburgers, hot dogs, and sides for dinner.  Brisket and egg tacos for breakfast/brunch among other options.

Accommodations:  The church has running water and functioning bathrooms, however, volunteers for this event (at this time) will likely be roughing it and sleeping in their vehicles or bringing a tent. There are no hotels available in the area. Keep in mind that this will be one night of "roughing it" for us, but these kind folks have been in these conditions since August 29th.

For those interested in volunteering their time to support this cause, please contact us at info@FinDdiscipleship.org. If you can't make it but would still like to support the cause financially, please click on the DONATE button below. This Donate button will earmark funds specifically for storm/flood relief efforts. If this is funded well enough, we will attempt making another run in a few weeks.
